학회 창립 50주년을 맞는 1995년에는 여러 가지 뜻깊은 일들이 많이 생겼지만, 우선 손꼽을 일은 전남치대 생리학교실이 9월에 막내로 출생신고를 하여 치과대학만으로도 여덟 개의 생리학교실이 된 것이다.
학술대회 시에 외국에서 특별강연자를 초청하거나 그밖에 국제심포지움을 개최한 경험이 없는 것은 아니지만 대개 그 규모가 그리 크지 않았던 것이 보통이었다. 대한생리학회는 그러한 경험을 토대로 하고 회원들의 적극적인 뒷받침에 힘입어, 창립 50주년을 기념하는 행사의 하나로 영국생리학회 회원들을 대규모로 초청하여 합동학술대회를 열기로 결정하였다. 4년 전의 한 영 일 합동학술대회 초청에 대한 답례이기도 하였다.
그리하여 해방 50년을 맞으며 또 대한생리학회 50주년을 맞는 1995년의 4월 4일과 5일 이틀에 걸쳐, 생리학 관계 학술대회로는 가장 큰 규모의 국제학술대회(The 50th Anniversary of the Korean Physiological Society. Joint Symposium with the Physiological Society of the United Kingdom - Membrane Transport and Ionic Channels -)를 서울 프레지던트 호텔에서 개최하였다.
30여 명의 영국생리학자와 국내의 많은 생리학자가 참석하여 열띤 발표와 토론을 가진 이 학술대회에서는 'Cardiovascular Ion Channels' 등 세 가지 부문에서 34편의 구두 발표와 32편의 포스터 발표 등 모두 66편의 논문 발표가 있었는데, 대한생리학회 소속 생리학자들은 아래와 같이 구두 14편, 포스터 18편 등 32편의 논문을 발표하였다.

우리는 이 도약기, 그 가운데에서도 특히 후반기에 말 그대로 학회가 도약하는 모습을 살펴보았다. 그러한 도약이 가능할 수 있었던 것은 물론 이 시기에 직접 활동하고 있는 우리 당대인들 노력의 결실이겠지만, 어렵고 힘들더라도 생리학의 길을 마다하지 않으신 선배들의 분투가 없었더라면 애당초 오늘을 생각도 할 수 없었으리라는 점을 결코 잊어서는 안 될 것이다. 이와 더불어 선배들과 우리 자신들의 분투와 노력은 한국 사회의 발전이라는 객관적 여건을 만날 수 있었기에 이나마의 결실을 볼 수 있었다는 점에서, 정치 경제 사회적 면에서 한국 사회의 발전을 위해 피와 땀과 눈물을 바쳐 온 이 땅의 모든 이들에게 감사드리지 않을 수 없다.
